System Navigator for MIPS
System Navigator tools for
MIPS Technologies MIPS32™ and MIPS64™ Cores

MIPS Technologies offers a broad family of microprocessor cores -- from 32-bit cores to high-performance 64-bit cores. Visit the MIPS Technologies web site to learn more about the cores.
The System Navigator supports all the latest MIPS cores and licensee processors in the MIPS32 family, from the 4K™ and 4KE™ trace enhanced through the 74K™. It also supports MIPS64 processors such as 5K™, 20K™, 24K™, and 25K™ cores.
The System Navigator is designed to support the special features and integrated peripherals of the MIPS family of synthesizable cores. The MIPS EJTAG features are completely supported. PDtrace™ features are also supported if present in the processor implementation. Both on-chip and off-chip trace capabilities are integrated into the synthesizable IP model for the core. This allows FS2 to provide a powerful debug tool with advanced features at a competitive price.
The System Navigator connects to the target system using a standard 14-pin EJTAG debug connector or 38-pin Mictor connector used with the System Navigator Pro for capturing both on-chip and off-chip trace. On-chip trace requires some resources in the SoC to capture and store the trace messages on-chip. System Navigator Pro supports both on-chip and off-chip trace features. In off-chip trace capture mode, trace data is streamed off the SoC device and captured in memory in the probe hardware.
Extensive debugger support including Eclipse-based Navigator IDE Debugger on Windows and Linux
Software development tools used with the System Navigator probes include the GNU-based MIPS SDE toolchain and the new MIPS Navigator™ IDE debugger. All the probe features are available from the Navigator IDE interface which has an Eclipse-standard interface and CDT components with special plug-ins for processor debugging using the probe. For more information about the MIPS software , click here. The System Navigator probes are also supported by the Viosoft embedded Linux Arriba debugger and Mentor Graphics Embedded Nucleus EDGE debugger. Now you can use the System Navigator probe with the best-in-class software tools for an intuitive, easy to use interface. The system runs on a PC with Windows®NT/2000/XP or RedHat Linux and requires a USB 2.0 or 10/100 Ethernet connection (optional). For designs requiring both on-chip and off-chip trace capture, the System Navigator Pro is available with USB 2.0 host connection.
