Arriba Embedded Linux Edition
Embedded Linux development tools for
MIPS Technologies MIPS32™ and MIPS64™ Cores

MIPS Technologies and Viosoft Corporation have worked together to provide a complete debug solution for embedded Linux for MIPS processor designs.
The Arriba Embedded Linux Edition provides significant benefits in the development of Linux device drivers and applications. Available on Linux and Windows hosts, the Embedded Linux Edition includes the features of the Embedded Edition, plus the following enhancements specific to Linux:
Complete embedded Linux kernel distribution, GNU toolchain, sample target filesystem image, and applications, for the supported platform
Integrated environment for configuring, building, and managing the Linux source and binary files
Patent pending source level debugger capable of debugging kernel drivers, modules, and applications
Single high speed debugging connection
Kernel Configuration and Management
The Embedded Linux Edition is the only product of its kind capable of configuring, importing, and building the Linux kernel from both Linux and Windows hosts, without modifying the kernel source tree. The ability to cross compile the Linux kernel from within the IDE translates to huge time saving advantages. Developers can access both the Linux development environment and Windows productivity tools from a single desktop.
Source Level Debugger
The Embedded Linux Edition includes a port of Viosoft's patent pending VMON2 target resident debug monitor. With VMON2, developers can:
Debug device drivers or loadable modules without pre-empting the kernel servicing of priority interrupts
Connect to the target system via low cost, high speed communication links
Debug without requiring special patches to the Linux kernel source files, or re-compiling the kernel with optimization turned off
Viosoft's patent pending VMON2 debug monitor can be rapidly configured to a variety of CPU architectures, platforms, and major and minor revisions of the embedded Linux kernel, at minimal expense.
