The IAR Embedded Workbench™ for eZ80 coupled with the JTAG based FS2 OCI® (On-chip Instrumentation) provides fully integrated, easy-to-use development tools for eZ80Acclaim!™ flash microcontrollers.
PORTLAND, OREGON, July 28, 2003—IAR Systems today announced a new version of the IAR Embedded Workbench for eZ80. The release integrates the IAR Embedded Workbench with the First Silicon Solutions (FS2) In-Target System Analyzer (ISA-EZ80), providing a complete and professional development environment for the ZiLOG award winning eZ80Acclaim!™ family of flash microcontrollers.
For ease of use and source-level debugging, the FS2 System Analyzer is tightly integrated with the IAR Embedded Workbench—a graphical Windows™ environment which allows users to create projects, edit files, compile, assemble, link and use the IAR C-SPY debugger for their eZ80 applications within a seamlessly integrated development environment (IDE).
The IAR Embedded Workbench includes ISO/ANSI standard C and EC++ compilers with built-in eZ80Acclaim! microcontroller family optimizations and libraries for fast code generation and run-time performance. In addition, IAR provides start-up code and examples specifically designed for the eZ80Acclaim! MCUs which make the process faster and easier for the ZiLOG application developer. With the state-of-the-art features of the IAR C-SPY Debugger, the most sophisticated simulator available in the embedded industry, and the tight integration with the FS2 System Analyzer, developers of complex embedded networking applications will have unprecedented opportunities to test their applications.
The IAR Embedded Workbench for eZ80 is based on IAR Systems' latest technology, an open architecture that offers easy integration of plug-ins such as RTOS modules and emulators.
Integration with the FS2 In-Target System Analyzer ISA-EZ80
The FS2 System Analyzer, based on FS2's industry-leading On-chip Instrumentation (OCI®) debug core technology, enables JTAG debugging with the user’s eZ80 target system. ZiLOG eZ80Acclaim! microcontrollers include an FS2 licensed OCI debug block which gives developers a powerful tool for debugging real-time code with a single target connection for downloading, running, and debugging their software applications and debugging target hardware/software interactions.
The system provides advanced features found in more traditional, and costlier in-circuit emulator solutions, such as triggers that can be set on combinations of address, data, and bus cycles and real-time trace display of executed instructions.
