FIRST SILICON SOLUTIONS BROADENS
SUPPORT FOR QUICKMIPS PRODUCTS
• FS2’s logic and system analyzers enhanced for new QuickMIPS devices
• Allows concurrent debug of programmable fabric and fixed-function portions of the QuickMIPS die which shortens the design cycle
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – July 9, 2003 – QuickLogic Corporation (Nasdaq: QUIK), the inventor and pioneer of ESPs (embedded standard products), and First Silicon Solutions (FS2®), a leader in On-Chip Instrumentation (OCI®) and embedded processor debug tools,
today announced that FS2’s ISA-QMIPS system analyzer and FS2 Navigator® logic analyzer products have been optimized to support the recently-announced QL902M, QL903M and QL904M QuickMIPS devices. FS2’s analysis products have been optimized to allow the system designer to concurrently debug both fixed-function and programmable areas of QuickMIPS-based systems, to significantly reduce system development time. In addition, the tools provide engineers with critical visibility into internal device signals for faster hardware/software implementation decisions and design verification.
Developed specifically for the QuickMIPS product, the ISA-QMIPS system analyzer provides complete access and control of the on-chip MIPS core and on-chip peripherals, and features a Configurable Logic Analysis Monitor (CLAM®) which allows the user to trace and trigger on up to 128 specified signals in the programmable fabric. The system analyzer and CLAM include sophisticated cross triggering for debugging interactions between the core and
programmable features of the QuickMIPS devices. ISA-QMIPS is available in two system configurations:
Internal Trace. All triggering and trace capture takes place on-chip, inside the QuickMIPS device.
External Trace. Trace is captured off-chip, freeing up on-chip resources and providing a richer trigger/trace feature set.
A complementary product to the ISA-QMIPS system, the FS2 Navigator® embedded bus logic analyzer, provides on-chip monitoring of activity on the QuickMIPS AMBA Advanced High-Performance Bus (AHB). The Navigator analyzer is unique in allowing the user to “view” otherwise inaccessible internal bus traffic between the programmable fabric and the other on-chip peripherals. Armed with better information about critical internal bus and signal activity, the user can make informed modifications to improve system performance.
“FS2 has been working closely with QuickLogic since the original conception of the QuickMIPS product family,” said Rick Leatherman, president and CEO of FS2. “The combination of logic analysis for the programmable fabric and run control for the embedded core provides designers with a powerful debug tool for the unique capabilities of the QuickMIPS device.”
“Our customers are continually pressed to release highly-reliable systems in increasingly shorter design windows,” said Ian Ferguson, vice president and general manager, QuickMIPS division. “By embracing FS2’s standardized embedded tools as part of our complete QuickMIPS solution, we are addressing customers requirements for faster and easier tools that play a critical role in keeping system-on-chip verification manageable.”
Pricing and Availability
The FS2 analyzers for the QuickMIPS development system are currently available from FS2 with prices starting at $3,995 for on-chip trace support and $4,995 for the system with off-chip trace. The FS2 Navigator AMBA bus analyzer pricing is starting at $3,995.
